Complex physics in a simple package: Physical modeling simulates the behavior of real-world instruments, but Atoms takes you beyond the limits of the natural world. Its capabilities are deep enough to explore the boundaries of sound design, yet simple enough to let you easily break, shape, and create sounds.
Atoms is powered by a simulation of interconnected masses and springs, featuring adjustable properties and dimensions. The model is triggered by a virtual bowing action that excites the system, causing it to vibrate and produce sound.

A Living Organism
Nothing in nature is truly static. Physical modeling mimics this by producing sounds with the same organic fluctuations found in acoustic instruments. Atoms takes this concept even further; its six main parameters can be automated using powerful motion options to inject even more vitality. This allows you to create soundscapes that—much like living organisms—are constantly evolving. If you are accustomed to working with sample libraries, Atoms will bring a new level of otherworldly realism to your tracks. Baby Audio’s musically tuned randomization engine features lockable parameters and a "magic dice" icon.
Program new patches with a single click.
Atoms features a powerful randomization engine. This musically tuned algorithm selectively adjusts parameters based on their relationships with one another, delivering a usable patch every time you roll the dice.
You can further refine the algorithm by limiting the randomization range of knobs or locking parameters so they remain unchanged.
Finally, the "Recycle" button acts as a secondary randomizer that creates a new patch similar to the current one. Once you find a sound you like, click "Recycle" to explore related variations.

Physically modeled effects
The bottom panel offers various creative effects for further sound sculpting. You can also choose from four acoustic profiles, each providing a mass-spring network simulation with a distinct structure.
With the exception of Space (reverb), all effects in the bottom panel are generated within the physical model itself. This results in a range of unique modulation effects inherent to the physical model, offering a more natural sound than a standard FX chain.
