Adding Color to Sound

Like its popular sibling software, PITCHMAP::COLORS quickly and easily transforms any audio into the timbre you desire. However, it boasts a distinctly electronic sound, specifically tailored for sound design. Switch between the natural-sounding SICK, the beautifully resonant INSANE, and the captivating electronic WTF (Warp Those Frequencies) mode with a single click.

Mapping Pitch

PITCHMAP::COLORS divides input audio into individual sounds based on pitch, shifting each sound up or down to align with a pitch grid. This grid can be easily configured using a UI keyboard or MIDI keyboard. Simply play the chords you want to adjust the tonality of your audio. Major to minor, A minor 7 to F# major, or convert wobble bass and noise into harmonics…it's like magic!

The mixed input audio is divided into individual notes and mapped to grid slots.

PITCHMAP::COLORS goes beyond simple audio pitch mapping. Not only can you switch between three superior pitch mapping algorithms, it also features scale shifting, advanced formant processing, transient bypass, and high-pass/low-pass filters. Achieve unprecedented harmonic processing in just seconds.

Scale Shifting

The new scale shift parameter makes sweeping the pitch grid easier than ever. Find the sweet spot within a scale, or automate scale shifting with a single MIDI-controllable parameter for a new arranging technique.

Formant Shifting and Gamma

PITCHMAP::COLORS features a powerful formant shifter that alters volume, making large pitch shifts sound more natural. With a two-octave range, it covers a wide range of sounds, from devilish growls to lively chipmunk calls, and achieves incredibly smooth automation with a resolution of 0.01 semitones. The Formant Shifter features a unique function called "FORMANT GAMMA," which emphasizes formant peaks and troughs. This effect is incredibly cool and difficult to describe in words…think of it as a complex, self-modulating filter-oid. This filter creates a novel, organic sonic shift, adding movement and a different atmosphere to your mix.

Transient Bypass

While more extreme sound modes can smooth out transients for a cool, smooth sound, sometimes you want to preserve the transient detail while still achieving that sound. For those cases, use PITCHMAP::COLOR's user-friendly and superior TRANSIENT BYPASS. Simply adjust the amount of transients, and the pitch mapping is adjusted and then mixed in. Furthermore, you can even boost beyond the original level with a single control.
