String Machines 2 by UVI, the ultimate string synth emulation collection, is now 71% off  at  the lowest price of  $29!

More than 50 years of design innovation and over 60 string synthesizers from around the world have been carefully collected, restored, and recorded to create one magnificent instrument: String Machines 2. The result of years of hard work, String Machines 2 significantly expands on the original, including many rare sounds and machines exclusive to this collection, as well as a completely updated architecture and interface. Use the warm, analog tones of vintage string synths to create captivating keys, pads, brass, bass, voices, piano, and more. Built on 46,000 samples, 355 handcrafted presets are designed for immediate use, and the versatile dual-layer architecture gives you creative freedom to easily combine sounds from multiple machines to create new hybrids.

Digging into History
In the 1970s, commercial keyboard designers began attempting to recreate the sounds of orchestral string instruments using analog synthesis. While the results fell far short of the original goal and were niche at the time, the sound of these machines is timeless—not because of their resemblance to orchestral instruments, but because they are deeply ingrained in our collective memory and nostalgia. Today, these synthesizers have largely disappeared, worn out and discarded, and many are in real danger of disappearing entirely.

Expanding the Archive
Six years ago, we released String Machines, featuring 11 of the most iconic synths. Now, we've brought them back with 51 new additions. Classics like the Solina, Freemand String Symphonizer, and Elka Rhapsody are included, along with extremely rare models like the Yamaha SK-50D, Logan Vocalist, and Jen SM2007. Many of these machines were extremely hard to come by, and most were delivered in non-working condition, requiring extensive repair and restoration. The effort has paid off: String Machines 2 has grown into both an important archive and an inspirational collection of instruments.

Sound Signature:
Each of these vintage string synths was meticulously inspected, tested, and tuned to match factory functionality as closely as possible. After spending time with each machine to identify its signature sound, unique qualities, and natural strengths, sound designers recorded them with premium DI boxes, hardware processors, and converters for the highest possible quality. All samples were hand-trimmed and processed to bring out the best possible mastered sound. Drawing from a diverse collection of instruments, some manufactured across decades and continents, String Machines 2's sound is vibrant, soulful, and rich with the subtle character and quirks of aged components.

Dual-Layer Design
String Machines 2 is designed with two independent layers, allowing you to easily select and layer 842 synthesizer sounds. Originally designed to emulate acoustic strings, these machines' sounds layer and modulate in a delightful way, making them a natural fit for ensemble use. String Machines 2 offers full control over each machine's amplifier ADSR, multimode filter, voicing, stereo, LFO, step modulator, and arpeggiator, allowing you to modify presets or create new sounds from scratch in any way you like. A powerful effects bus, including EQ, Drive, Thorus, Phasor, Delay, Sparkverb, and an authentic ensemble effect modeled after the Roland RS-505, adds the finishing touch.

String Machines 2 is a sound archive that reimagines the authentic sounds of 62 string synthesizers as unique instruments, recreating them with warm, distinctive timbres.
