【Black Friday Sale & New VST!】What!? New Pulsar Audio Mu!? Best Mastering Compressor VST? VM-COMP

VM-COMP by Pulsar Audio, a new version of popular tube compressor plug-in, Pulsar Mu, is now 46% off and just $79. If you own Pulsar Mu, this update is completely free.

Industry-Standard Tube Compressor
The most faithful emulation of a modern yet legendary vacuum tube compressor/limiter. It's the perfect glue for mixing and mastering.

This variable-bias tube compressor provides smooth, transparent gain control, seamlessly gluing together busses, mixes, and masters.

Unfortunately, the original hardware is expensive and difficult to integrate into existing workflows. While software emulations exist, most hardware owners agree that they simply lack something and cannot compare to the original.

With its unique topology-preserving technology, the Pulsar VM-COMP delivers objectively identical sound to its hardware counterparts in any production context, while also introducing improvements like visual sidechain EQ editing and an expanded timing range.

A Modern Take on a Legendary Compressor

The Pulsar VM-COMP is a stereo compressor operating in L/R or M/S mode. Designed with mixing and mastering in mind, it's also flexible for tracking. Its versatile uses include leveling, limiting, or adding analog warmth by emulating a tube signal path.

Real-Time Visualization
The Pulsar VM-COMP recreates the accurate SIFAM metering of the original unit while also offering a more modern visualization mode for fine-tuning compression settings, displaying waveforms and gain reduction both over time and instantaneously.

Full-Featured Sidechain EQ
Pulsar Mu also offers a variety of options that can be applied to sidechain signals. While adding a high-pass filter was a popular mod for the original device, Mu goes even further, offering a more comprehensive equalization section. With just four knobs, you can precisely adjust the compressor's bass, midrange, and treble response. Plus, you can now freely edit the Pulsar VM-COMP's sidechain EQ with an on-screen curve editor.

Master Transient with Total Timing Control

We've also added the ability to look ahead or delay the sidechain signal. This gives you complete control over transients, allowing the compressor to begin responding before or after the transient occurs, opening up a variety of creative possibilities.

Extended Attack and Release
Faster attack and release allow for more aggressive, mid-forward tones not possible with the original. Explore the creative possibilities of this powerful "color box"—the VM-COMP!

How does it sound?

Transparent yet musical: The Pulsar VM-COMP has a warm, incredibly transparent sound. Unlike FET and VCA compressors, it softly and musically controls transients even at extreme settings. The VM-COMP lets you add movement to your sound while respecting the natural dynamics of your source.
Mastering: The VM-COMP's most typical use is in mastering. It adds a subtle "polish" and "glue" to any mix, adding a subtle warmth. It can be used as a leveler (long attack and release), a compressor (slow attack and fast release), or a limiter (fast attack and fast release). Use the VM-COMP in Mid/Side mode to emphasize the stereo image or tame an overly wide mix.
Drum Bus: The Pulsar VM-COMP quickly creates the "glue" needed for drum bus processing, including kick drum transients. Depending on the gain reduction and release time settings, you can recreate the room ambience essential to certain musical styles. It's particularly effective when used as a parallel compressor.
Acoustic Guitar: With relatively low gain reduction settings on acoustic guitar, Pulsar VM-COMP creates a pleasing, organic groove while respecting the instrument's transients. This subtle effect helps to enliven dull, rigid guitar tracks, giving them edge and character.
Snare Drum: Pulsar VM-COMP adds thickness and coherence to the delicate sound of a snare drum, while preserving the transients essential for it to stand out in a mix. Additionally, Mu helps restore sustain, harmonics, and even ambience.
Vocal: Pulsar VM-COMP sounds particularly good on vocals, especially with its high input and medium attack and release. Its analog-like warmth allows it to remain natural even in a dense mix. Features
