IK Multimedia Tape Echo is a software that lets you experience the rich, organic sound of a classic machine. It is a faithful reproduction of the highly popular Echoplex EP3 tape delay. Released in 1969, the Echoplex EP3 quickly became the standard for delay effects among musicians and guitarists. Now you can integrate this iconic sound into your digital audio workstation.

Tape Echo works on the basic principle of a traditional analog recording machine. The input signal is recorded onto 1/4-inch magnetic tape by one tape head, and the other tape head plays back the recorded signal to create the delay effect. The delay time itself is precisely controlled by varying the distance between the two heads.
