Temperance Lite takes reverb technology to a new level, offering a fresh approach to shaping ambience. It responds to the language of music, encouraging exploration of reverb in new ways.
Unlike traditional algorithmic or convolution reverbs, Temperance Lite lets you control reverb resonance using the familiar 12-tone chromatic scale. This allows you to choose which tones to emphasize or deemphasize within your chosen space, creating possibilities previously unimaginable. Modal Reverb Technology: Imagine a room with thousands of tuning forks, each tuned to a different frequency. What if you could control the volume and decay of each tuning fork? Temperance models the reverberation space as thousands of independent resonances (modes), all adjustable in real time. While convolution reverb captures a space as a single snapshot, Temperance builds the space one element at a time, giving you complete control over the decay and resonance of each mode. The Temper Knob
The heart of Temperance lies in its unique Temper knob. At 12 o'clock, Temperance Lite functions like a traditional reverb. Turning clockwise allows you to adjust how much the selected note resonates within the music. Turning counter-clockwise reduces the emphasis of the selected note.
The Science of Modal Reverb
Each mode is represented by an independent resonator with four adjustable parameters: frequency, decay time, amplitude, and phase.
