Truly iconic.
The only 100% authentic JUNO-106 plug-in.
Released in 1984 as an affordable polysynth for the masses, the JUNO-106 has far surpassed its humble beginnings to become one of the most beloved instruments of all time. And for good reason. It boasts punchy basses, delicate plucking sounds, sparkling pads that blend perfectly into the mix, and a legendary chorus effect. With the JUNO-106 Software Synthesizer, Roland brings the true sound and experience of this '80s icon to your studio or favorite DAW.
You'll always be reminded of your first love.
For many, the JUNO-106 was their first serious synthesizer, and they develop a lifelong attachment to it. Some still own their originals, while others regret missing out and deeply regret selling them. Today, the original JUNO-106 keyboard remains highly sought after among synth enthusiasts and is beloved by contemporary producers of all styles.
What makes the JUNO unique?
The JUNO formula—a single DCO, a fat sub-oscillator, a distinctive VCF, and, of course, a powerful, swirling chorus—combines to create a sound that's sure to captivate. Its deceptively simple architecture and straightforward workflow make it effortless to create great sounds. The JUNO sound has been used on countless hit songs and helped define various genres, including synthwave, synthpop, and new wave. Over the decades, the JUNO has evolved beyond just a synthesizer: it's the JUNO.
Analog circuit operation (ACB).
Roland has utilized its proprietary circuit modeling technology to recreate the JUNO-106 in your DAW or SYSTEM-8. The ACB process involves meticulous analysis of original hardware, circuit diagrams, and other historical data. This information is then used to faithfully recreate the vintage instrument's circuit behavior, including all of the JUNO-106's unique quirks and instabilities. This is what gives the JUNO-106 software synthesizer its breathtakingly realistic sound and unique personality.
Recreate an icon.
In developing the JUNO-106 plug-in, Roland felt it was important to stay true to the original's elegant simplicity and meticulously balanced magic. But we couldn't resist adding modern touches like velocity sensitivity, an expanded oscillator range, and the addition of a second envelope and onboard arpeggiator. The LFO, arpeggiator, and effects are tempo-synced, and with a freely resizable, high-resolution UI and support for VST3, AAX, and AU formats, it fits perfectly into any production environment.
Adjust to your liking.
Vintage synthesizers like the JUNO-106 featured internal trim controls, allowing engineers to fine-tune various analog components when they were out of spec. But sometimes, "out-of-spec" sounds can produce unique, interesting, or even extraordinary sounds. The newly added Circuit Mod feature, enabled by Roland's latest ACB technology, lets you sweep multiple trims with a single macro control. Combined with the Condition parameter, which simulates aging, you can recreate anything from a factory-fresh JUNO-106 to a worn synth that hasn't been touched on a tech bench for decades.
Resonant Chorus.
A key feature of the JUNO sound is its incredibly rich chorus circuit. Like the original, the software version offers two selectable chorus modes, faithfully modeled in meticulous detail, along with the distinctive (but adjustable) JUNO noise that many JUNO fans consider one of its most endearing features. Additionally, Roland has added a chorus option, along with equally rich reverb, delay, flanger, and overdrive effects.
Feel free to take a look.
A sophisticated browser lets you explore the JUNO-106's extensive factory presets, custom sounds, and patch collections downloaded from Roland Cloud. Search all installed patch banks, sort results, rate your favorite patches, take notes, and quickly tweak them with the built-in Tweak panel.
Turn your SYSTEM-8 into a JUNO-106.
The JUNO-106 software synthesizer perfectly integrates with the SYSTEM-8 keyboard. Modify the JUNO-106's plug-in panel to match the SYSTEM-8 for intuitive, one-to-one control. Plus, use the PLUG-OUT function to use the SYSTEM-8 as a standalone JUNO-106 for studio or stage performance.
