SOL - Solar Granular Synthesis by Pehr Torsten, a granular synth based on 40 days of solar radar data observing changes on the Sun's surface, is available for free.

The SOL Solar Granular Synthesis instrument uses 40 days of solar radar data measuring changes on the Sun's surface. This data was sped up 42,000 times to reach the audible range. Two of these data sets were loaded into Steinberg's Padshop, tuned to musical notes, and then granular synthesis was used to create endlessly morphing waveforms with deep textures.

Data from the Michelson Doppler Imager satellite was prepared by A. Kosobichev of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, an international collaboration between ESA and NASA that studies the Sun from its deep interior to the outer corona and solar wind.
