Arousor is the only classic knee compressor plug-in created by Empirical Labs, the creators of Distressor. It's been over 20 years since Empirical Labs released their first compressor, Distressor. Since those early days, Empirical Labs has been inundated with requests for a great compressor plug-in for those who work with the box... and it had to have the creamy sound and ease of use of their own award-winning hardware compressor. Advanced Detector Sidechain

Tune exactly where you want to trigger compression with 2 bands of sidechain EQ. This advanced detector sidechain EQ extends both of Distressor's preset detection filter circuits into a controllable high-pass and parametric sidechain. Control the exact point on the frequency spectrum that triggers compression without losing low end.

Rivet Mode

Get maximum gain reduction with Rivet Mode and all of your favorite ratios from Distressor. Modeled after Distressor's Nuke Ratio, Rivet provides the steepest compression ratio a compressor plug-in can offer for slamming room mics and more.

Attack Modification

Tweak the attack curve of your compression envelope with AtMod. The Attack Modification knob slows down the initial slope of the attack envelope to add a bit of transient back into your track. Whether you want a bit more snap in your snare track or more power in your electric bass, AtMod lets the transients through without losing the amount of compression you need.

Colorful Saturation

Add vintage-style harmonic distortion to any track with the Soft Clipper. Whether you're looking for a subtle or extreme amount of total harmonic distortion, the Soft Clipper knob merges both distortion settings of the Distressor to give the user full control over total harmonic distortion without having to adjust the Arousor's input level.

Two OPTO modes based on the classic and modern LA2A time constants

Soft Clipper Expert panel that introduces more 2nd harmonic distortion and allows the ability to place the Compressor input before or after the Soft Clipper circuit.

The Detector Sidechain EQ now has a Listen mode, allowing you to see what frequencies are affecting the Compression Detector.

You can now access two new ratios (6.5:1 and 7:1) by enabling "ALT" mode in the ratio section.

The GUI can now be enlarged to twice its original size for more comfortable editing.
