Following the award-winning Scaler music theory plug-in, Scaler EQ offers an amazing new way to EQ with musicality and color. By only emphasizing note frequencies that are in the key of the song and lowering only note frequencies that are not, Scaler EQ puts a new twist on cut and boost operations, enhancing the tonality behind the music and providing new harmonic avenues.
The World's First In-Key EQ
Thanks to the harmonic peak and "plus/minus" filter type, when you perform a boost with Scaler EQ, it will only boost frequencies that match the currently set scale. Cutting in the same band only reduces out-of-key frequencies, but can be set to cut in-key frequencies as well, which can be useful in mixing.
EQ and Key Selection
An in-key EQ gives you warmer bass and sweeter treble when boosting, while an out-of-key cut gives you clearer, more focused bass and less harsh treble that maintains musicality.
Easy Key Detection
Key detection allows you to automatically capture the key of your music through audio or MIDI, making it quick and easy to set up a sweeter tonal boost. To choose a broader or more focused timbre, you can add or remove notes in the currently selected scale.
Musician and Producer Friendly Band Types
Scaler EQ's harmonic band types aren't the only options for boost and cut. The array of traditional shelf, bell, and high-pass/low-pass filters will be instantly familiar and easy to use for any producer, and Scaler EQ has even more to reward your creative exploration.
Magic Shelf
Scaler EQ's unique Magic Shelf bands work with stereo characteristics in mind. Boosting the Magic Shelf in the low frequencies affects the band's mid-frequency signal more than the side information. Cutting the Magic Shelf by lowering its level in the low frequencies cuts more of the side signal than the mid-frequency information.
Magic Shelf
The Magic Shelf in the high frequencies works in a complementary way, increasing the sides more strongly and decreasing the mids more strongly. As the Range control is increased, the Magic Shelf band introduces a complementary scoop or bump before the corner frequency.
All the Cons of Mod EQ
Scaler EQ has a solid workflow for boosting and cutting bands and shelves like a traditional EQ, making it fit alongside all other mixing plug-ins. Each band or shelf can also be set to Dynamic mode, softening boosts and cuts with dynamic compression and expansion set by the Threshold, Ratio, Attack and Release controls.
Dynamic EQ Bands
Scaler EQ also has plenty of stereo options. Stereo channel selection (mid/side/stereo) for every band makes it easy to enhance or reduce the energy in specific areas of the stereo panorama. And thanks to the mono frequency selector, you can quickly and easily make bass areas mono at the frequency of your choosing. The stereo width dial uses our proprietary Expanded DSP to enhance stereo width in a frequency-aware way.
