The Authentic Sound of Two World-Class Analog Tape Machines
Description
While digital recording is now the standard for professional music production, many engineers and musicians still yearn for the days of analog recording. And there's a good reason for that. Analog tape machines have a unique sound. Powerful, thick, warm, deep, rich, and exciting. These are just some of the words that describe the sound of recording on magnetic tape. Tape has a more musical resonance for those who know its sound. So we've modeled two of the most famous tape machines in the audio world and included them in Virtual Tape Machines, along with options such as bias, tape speed, and tape type.
World-Class Tape Machines for DAWs
VTM is highly regarded by professional engineers for its extremely realistic reproduction, meticulously capturing every aspect of tape. This realistic reproduction is the result of years of meticulous research. Using VTM on your tracks and mixes will give your mixes a warmer, smoother, punchier, and more analog sound.
Choose your favorite machine and tape stock.
VTM emulates both 16-track 2-inch tape machines and 1/2-inch stereo mastering decks. Furthermore, you can choose from two of the most popular tape configurations. The configurations differ in characteristics and headroom, ultimately resulting in different sound outcomes.
Control the Speed
Virtual Tape Machines accurately emulates the operation of both the most common tape speeds: 15 ips and 30 ips. Tape engineers sometimes choose which speed to use depending on the material they are recording, because the bass response can differ significantly between the two speeds. You can further fine-tune the bass response using the bass alignment slider in the settings module.
