Reborn through software: The M1 Music Workstation

Released in 1988, the M1 was a groundbreaking synthesizer that defined the music scene from the late 80s to the 90s. Its high-quality PCM-based digital multi-effects synthesis system achieved a revolutionary and unique sound. Furthermore, as the original "all-in-one" music workstation, it featured an 8-track sequencer, significantly changing the composition and production styles of musicians.

KORG Collection M1 V2 upgrades the 2005 M1 software, improving it to suit modern production environments. KORG has added a highly requested high-resolution and scalable interface. All 3,300 preset sounds, including those from expansion ROM cards, are included, providing the legendary M1 sound as a plugin with the latest software.

Complete Reproduction of the AI ​​Synthesis System

The M1 featured an AI (Advanced Integrated) synthesis system utilizing PCM waveforms and a digital effects processor. While many of the preset sounds are based on PCM tones, they possess not only realistic sounds but also a unique sound character, showcasing the advanced nature of Korg's voicing technology.

KORG Collection M1 provides the original M1 library of PCM data. The hardware was completely reproduced in software, down to the smallest detail, based on Korg's analysis of the original circuit diagrams. Engineers who know the M1 inside and out meticulously adjusted the software to achieve the instrument's true sound, something that cannot be achieved by simply sampling the original sound. Korg also designed the M1 so that programs and combinations are completely independent—a feature impossible with the original unit.

High-Resolution Interface for Retina and 4K

The KORG Legacy Collection DIGITAL EDITION M1 software, released in 2005, also features significant GUI improvements. High-resolution graphics ensure compatibility with the latest Retina and 4K environments. Six levels of expandability significantly improve ease of use. It offers the user-friendliness and satisfaction unique to the M1, along with high-resolution control over a wide range of parameters.

A vast collection of over 3,000 preset sounds

Sounds instantly recognizable as "M1 Piano" and "M1 Organ" have been featured on numerous hit records over the years, and these are sounds that can only be produced by the M1. The unique M1 sounds have been embraced by musicians and producers worldwide and continue to be loved today. KORG Collection M1 includes all of the M1's preset sounds. In addition to all 19 PCM ROM cards released for the M1, KORG Collection M1 also includes sounds from the M1EX (which expands on the M1's built-in PCM) and sounds from KORG T1/T2/T3 synthesizers. Released by KORG as an evolved version of the M1. In addition to 3,300 preset sounds, it comes with a vast sound collection from 34 ROM cards.

Quick access to frequently used parameters such as oscillator and effect selection, filter and EQ adjustments makes rough sound editing and fine-tuning presets easy.

The new KORG Collection M1 goes beyond simply reproducing the original, evolving even further. The synth part now includes filter resonance and VDA modulation, features not present in the original M1. The effects section, which previously only had two master effects, has been upgraded to 18 insert effects, including a compressor effect ideal for balancing the sound.

Interoperable with the original M1 and IM1 for iPad

Sounds created with KORG Collection M1 maintain compatibility with the original M1. By transferring data in SYS EX (a system-specific format), you can fulfill your dream of recreating familiar sounds with a plugin, even if you still have your original M1 stored!
